Developing Trust

Posted by D.Gildner

As we talked in an earlier post, Silas loves to move all around the bed when he sleeps, which has caused me some not so restful nights as I've been a bit worried that he would roll past the edge. So, in an effort to minimize the chances of this happening, Erin and I developed a fort of pillows and blankets to lock him in. Here's his bed:

Well, apparently our inpenetrable fort is a little leaky. Last night around 10:30, I was awakened by Erin holding a crying Silas and saying, "Dan, he fell out of bed on his pillow." Apparently, Silas rolled onto his pillow and then put enough pressure on it that it and he fell onto the floor. So, with a mild cry he awakened his mommy to the fact that he needed us. So, as scared as the moment made us, we also were very aware that moments such as that are what develops trust between Silas and us...he is learning that when he hurts his head, his mom and dad will be there! And he can trust in that!

Today, Tuesday, I am taking Silas swimming, we are awaiting a package from our adoption agency with Silas' visa and then we are going out to eat at a highly recommended authentic place around the corner for our last meal out. Thanks for your prayers and comments of love.

That's pretty funny! I knew by the picture there was no way that "barrier" could withstand all that hair.
